Executive Summary

The Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a comprehensive business management framework designed to help entrepreneurs and leadership teams systematically and sustainably grow their organizations. When Andrew Drage of Accent Countertops recognized that the company needed more structure to effectively set and hit their goals, he turned to Jon Kaplan and the EOS Traction methodology. This collaboration resulted in significant operational improvements and measurable business success.

Background

Accent Countertops has been in business for over 30 years. After years of success, they found themselves not experiencing the same level of growth. When they took a hard look at their internal systems, they realized they could use some structure. Andrew met Jon Kaplan at a Rockheads event discussing the EOS Traction methodology. Given his experience in the stone fabrication industry and EOS consulting expertise, he felt it was the right opportunity that could drive the changeAccent was looking for.

Challenges

Accent had not been improving at the same rates they had in the past, with somewhat stagnant growth. Andrew had previous experience with EOS about 10 years ago and in the back of his mind, he felt that implementing Traction could help Accent and FloForm overcome their lack of progress and get them on the right path to effectively set their strategy and achieve their goals.

Implementation

When Kaplan came on board, they established weekly meetings and experienced structure they had not achieved on their own. After a few months of these structured meetings, they had their first big strategy meeting, two days off site. Per Andrew, “it was really powerful because it helped us think about things that we hadn't thought about in a long time. Where do we want be in 10 years? 3 years? One year? What are our goals and who are we? How do we identify? It was a great experience.”

This way of thinking allowed the team to pull themselves away from working in the business for a few days and solely work on the business. Having these quarterly management meetings and weekly updates enabled them to improve their business much more quickly than they ever had before. This was due to the accountability that is baked into the EOS Traction methodology.

Results

Today, Accent is improving more than they ever have in their business.

Reduced Rework: Achieved a significant reduction in rework, decreasing by 50%.
Improved Yield: Enhanced production yield, leading to better resource utilization.
First-Time Installations: Increased the rate of successful first-time installations.

I'd highly recommend they Interview Jon for it, especially in our industry because he knows our industry, has worked with a number of different countertop companies and he's probably now worked with the largest group which is FloForm.
